Contacts
Business is a ‘contacts’ sport – who you know is just as important as what you know. That’s why Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software is so valuable – but why pay for it when it comes FREE with Periscope?
Top tip: Before you can create a new contact in Periscope you MUST first create the organisation with which that contact is associated. So if you catch a ride from John Smith from Ace Taxis and he mentions Ace are in desperate need of a new website – then that’s worth creating as a prospect in Periscope.
Create new organisation
Input the organisation’s name – Ace Taxis. Then a prefix – that’s the series of letters (maximum of 4) that be used to identify any future jobs associated with this organisation. For Ace Taxis we could use ACET.
Create new contact
Periscope makes it easy for you. If you now want to create John Smith as a contact Periscope helps you out. The dropdown list contains all the organisations you’ve created so far. Select Ace Taxis and then input all the info you have on John Smith. Don’t worry about empty fields – Periscope isn’t fussy and you can add to these details anytime in the future. When you’re done click Submit and Periscope displays a summary of the contact details and gives you a new set of options…
Edit contact
Does what it says on the tin.
Clone this contact
Let’s say you keep in touch with John Smith and he introduces you to Jane Doe – one of Ace Taxis’ Directors. Jane’s your best chance of getting an order so you want her details in Periscope. They work for the same organisation and their address is the same so to save you time Periscope allows you to Clone your original contact, then to edit it and when you’re ready – click submit.
Add a note
Your note might be something like… ‘Jane’s the Marketing Director but she mentioned she’d need the Finance Director’s clearance before commissioning a new website. His name is Dave Jones.’ Or ‘Jane’s a keen skier and has two teenage kids’. Notes stay associated with your contact and can be edited anytime you like.
