Getting started

One of the great beauties of Periscope is that there are multiple ways in…

For the ‘Toe dipper’

If you’re not yet 100% convinced – despite the fact it’s FREE and that we’ve already got excited users as far afield as America, New Zealand and the UK – then try the gently, gently catchee monkey approach… Here’s how:

  1. Register as a Periscope user at www.periscopehq.co.uk/free
  2. Choose a recently started project you’d like to run through Periscope. N.B. Periscope will automatically generate you a first Project called ‘Beginning Periscope’.
  3. Edit the ‘Beginning Periscope’ Project by selecting the Project tab and clicking on the ‘Edit project’ button. Set yourself as the owner and record how long – in hours – you’ve budgeted for the job to take.
  4. Take a note of the Project’s unique Project reference number.
  5. Click on Periscope’s Admin button (top right of screen). Select ‘Communication and Notifications’. Copy the email address at the bottom of the screen.
  6. In your favorite email program, create a contact called ‘Periscope’ and assign it the email address you just copied.
  7. Next time you email the client – or anyone else – about the project, BCC Periscope into the email and watch how Periscope magically imports the email into the project – attachments and all!
  8. Record the time you spend on the job in the Timesheet tab.
  9. Keep a watchful eye on the time spent as the project progresses.
  10. Feel smug. You’re in control. And Periscope’s bringing back the joy!

For the ‘High diver’

If stumbling over Periscope was like finding your perfect life-partner then you don’t need to hedge your bets. Dive straight in…

  1. Follow 1-10 above for your first project
  2. Then create all of your current projects as Periscope Projects.
  3. Add all the organizations you work for as Periscope Contacts.
  4. Buy the Schedule, Schedule and Metrics modules and…
  5. Sit back and embrace the tidal wave of joy heading your way!
